He anticipated his next need without hesitation or delay. Adam let me sleep by my dad’s side that night in the ICU. I am forever grateful for this. Those were the last real conversations I had with him.
Adam treated my father with such compassion and kindness. My dad recently lost the battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.
He had only been diagnosed 3 months earlier. Throughout this time, he was hospitalized here at Elliot and then transferred to Boston for 28 days. He was only home for one week before admitting again and unfortunately passing away.
Being a nurse myself, it was a constant struggle to juggle the nurse/daughter role. Every time we had a small victory in treatment, there was a major step backward. While we met some amazing nurses and staff along the way, no one compared to how Adam spoke and cared for my father. You could truly tell he took pride in his job and took the extra time to listen and attend to not only my dad’s needs but the family. My mom was able to leave the hospital and go home and rest because she knew he was well cared for. He was always on top of his pain medication and repositioning. He anticipated his next need without hesitation or delay. Adam let me sleep by my dad’s side that night in the ICU. I am forever grateful for this. Those were the last real conversations I had with him. While he was very nervous, scared, and aware he was dying, I feel like he had one of the most comforting, soothing, and caring nurses taking care of him.
Knowing he had the very best care comforts me and my family. I hope Adam knows how much of a positive impact he has had on my family and how comfortable he made my dad in his final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
