Alison began her calm, sweet venture with me and the whole family by reassuring us that even though this all looked scary, it was all necessary for T’s wellbeing.
Dr. A performed a triple bypass on my husband T. This is where our long journey began. T was in critical condition. As soon as he was taken to his room my angel from God named Alison took over. I walked in that room with tubes inserted all over T’s body and the room looked like the control room of a spaceship behind T with all the bags of medicine, machines, and monitors everywhere. It was overwhelming since it was all connected to the love of my life.

Alison began her calm, sweet venture with me and the whole family by reassuring us that even though this all looked scary, it was all necessary for T’s wellbeing. She was loving, reassuring, calm, and so wonderful to immediately explain what each item in the room was for, what each monitor was telling her that T being well cared for. Her love and honesty did the most for me. She never sugar-coated what was going on and kept me constantly informed and never seemed to bother her when I had questions. Every beep of the machines, every change of medicine was explained to me. She never made me feel I shouldn’t be in the room and watch what was going on. I was welcomed here, when things were concerning she told me, when things were positive, she explained that too and encouraged me.

There were two times I lost it and in tears, but Alison pulled her rolling chair beside me and held my hand, and truthfully assured me of all that was happening. Alison cares about our whole family, knows each of our names, what they do, and we talk about them all the time which I’m sure has lessened the tension in the room and in my heart. All the nurses have been great, but Alison was the angel I needed to get me through and never let me give up hope. T has a long way to go but has made great strides. My whole family has adopted Alison as a family member, and we are ever grateful to her. This girl has worked her two days off to care for T. We love her and feel she should be praised and honored by the hospital staff.
