What started as a visit to an urgent care facility turned into an unexpected 3-night stay at the hospital. Fortunately for me, I had Amber as my nurse for 2 of the 3 days. Amber not only cared for me but truly cared about me. Throughout my stay, my heart rate and rhythm were in constant fluctuation until the medication took effect. The uneasy feeling of an uncontrolled heart rate was scary, but what was even more scary was the unknown. Amber helped to treat my medical issues, but beyond that, she helped to keep me informed of the treatment I was receiving and how such treatment was resolving the underlying issues.

Amber is extremely knowledgeable in a medical sense but also showed empathy and compassion by translating foreign medical terminology into something a layperson could understand. Her compassion extended beyond myself and to my family by keeping them informed and aware of my progress. Amber held not only herself accountable, but also those around her. She consistently acted as the “glue” that kept all the various service providers together to ensure I received the best care possible. She also acted as the “glue” that kept me together as I navigated the unexpected and scary situation. Her integrity and work ethic kept me calm and instilled a sense of being in control. Amber’s excellence extended throughout her professional actions and into the approach/method of her care. I cannot thank Amber enough and she is the embodiment of TMH’s ICARE values!
