Andrea was outstanding during my father's recent stay in the hospital. My father came in to get a hemoglobin transfusion and Andrea was kind, patient, and thorough. She carefully explained each part of the process and answered all our questions patiently and carefully. But she also went above and beyond; we were trying to collect stool samples to see if he had a GI bleed (hence the need for hemoglobin). She helped us collect samples, but then she decided it would be better to run the test at the hospital so we could get the results faster. She coordinated everything with my father's oncologist and hospital lab, making a number of phone calls to keep everyone up-to-date, and making sure the test results were ready by the time the transfusion was complete. Then, even though she was at the end of her shift, she came to the room and again patiently explained the results and next steps, and she stayed to make sure we were satisfied before she left. We all really appreciate Andrea's concern, tenacity, and patience. She is an exemplary nurse and an outstanding person.
