Anna Whitcomb was exceptional. She checked on both my husband and me every hour during the night, making sure we were both ok.
My husband was in SEARHC WMC during the last three weeks of an aggressive terminal illness, and I was with him 24/7 until he passed. During that time, our family developed close relationships with several of the nurses. All were exceptional, caring not just for my husband but for our family and friends who were there to support us through the illness/death.
While there were several who stood out, Anna Whitcomb was exceptional. She checked on both my husband and me every hour during the night, making sure we were both ok. She took the time to learn about us as a family and our traditions and supported us beyond measure. I’d especially like to recognize her for how in tune she was to my husband’s needs. She made time to do a facial massage for him, helping him to relax. She also taught me how to do it so I could help ease his pain and help him relax and offered to come in at any time to help us. She is my true hero, and I’ll never forget the love we felt with her in our corner. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe her nursing skills, both clinical and her innate ability to emotionally support us.
