Barbara assisted a patient that needed a PICC for vesicant infusion. The patient was upset and nervous about receiving the PICC. Barbara took the time to reassure the patient and explain the procedure, step by step. I received the patient in the ICU status post-line placement. The patient had so many wonderful things to say about Barbara and her wonderful bedside manner. The patient said they were just talking and the next thing he knew, Barbara was packing up and said she was done. The patient was so surprised. He said it didn't hurt at all and Barbara made all of his fears go away. And did I mention Barbara was supposed to head home early that day, but she stayed to place the PICC for the safety of the patient. Thank you for all you do, Barbara!
