Upon reaching Labor and Delivery with my first baby boy, I was terrified and in pain. I was greeted by Chelsea with the most compassionate nature. She was very attentive and did what she could to make me feel comfortable and empowered! I felt like I had known her for years. After triage, she stayed with me as my delivery nurse. Even with my pain, she did everything to ensure my comfort until the epidural was given. She asked about my preferences of lighting and if she was talking too much. I really appreciated her thoughtfulness. When the epidural was given, she coached me through the doctor's every move to make up for his lack of bedside manner. She allowed me to lean on her and clench her through the pain. She continually encouraged me and made me feel special! Throughout the night I never felt alone or unsure. She was there to make everything okay! She kept me updated on everything, so I knew what to expect. She made my actual labor a breeze and I felt like the only mother to have given birth. I was sad to leave her.
On her next night at work in L&D, she still came to check on my baby and me. I felt so loved. I was even lucky enough to have her as my nurse in Mother/Baby on my second night! I was so excited, and she was too. It was a great feeling. She supplied me with a dermoplast, something the other nurses didn't tell me about. She also took my baby to the nursery for a couple of hours so I could sleep, something I didn't know could happen. I am so thankful for such a wonderful, knowledgeable nurse. She made my whole experience PERFECT. Every time I tell my labor story, she will be the true star!!
