I had some big decisions to make, and she always took her time to make me feel heard and comforted.
I was pregnant with twins and admitted at 20 weeks for preterm labor. I crossed paths with many amazing nurses but Emily really stood out. She was my nurse twice during my week-long hospital stay. She always made sure I felt heard and safe during a very scary heart-breaking time for my husband and I. Emily made sure to always communicate what was happening and answer the million and one questions I had. The days got long and boring but Emily would sit with me in my room and just talk to me about life which would take my mind off everything happening. I had some big decisions to make, and she always took her time to make me feel heard and comforted. Once I was having regular contractions - she never left my side and was constantly encouraging and supporting me emotionally. She was very attentive and was constantly checking in on me even when I told her she didn't have to. Emily was to leave early the day I delivered the babies but stayed late (I believe a few extra hours) to make sure that I was taken care of. I was told that others told Emily to leave when she was supposed to but she refused. During that time, she also asked if she could take some photos of the babies for us and these are some of the only photos we have of them- I will cherish these photos forever. Her genuine care and compassion at the bedside set her apart from the rest - she will forever have a place in our hearts. She made this extremely difficult time a little bit easier.
