As someone who works in healthcare, it's different when you're on the other side of the bed rails. Our first impression could not have been any better. Our experience began at the check-in desk, where we were greeted with a warm smile and a soft, comforting voice. We were then immediately taken back to meet our nurse. Grace was especially warm and friendly, and she made my daughter feel right at home. Grace helped me relate to my daughter by bringing up the Christmas PJs she was wearing. She talked to the nurse about her elf on the shelf, Elfis. She explained that the elf had left her a note, wishing her good luck and letting her know that he prayed for her this morning.

Grace took us to the preop room to finish her assessment and obtain her vital signs. We were surprised to walk into a comfortable room with a cartoon already playing on the TV. When Grace left, she returned with coloring pages, crayons, and stickers, and even told my daughter that her elf must have come by the OR and left her a surprise. This made my daughter comfortable with the surgical services team. As a mother, this warmed my heart and put my mind at ease. I could not have been prouder of this team and I am so thankful for the personal touch to my daughter's care. Grace was thorough and truly had my daughter's best interest at heart. This is exactly how patients should be made to feel every single day in every encounter.
