About 34 hours after my C-section I began to hemorrhage. At first, I didn't think it was a big deal and called Jen into my room. She smiled and reassured me that she would take good care of me. Within 20 minutes I had hemorrhaged to the point where I lost over 50% of my blood volume. Amongst all the chaos happening in my room, Jen's face and words were calm and reassuring. She spoke to me about my baby and held my hand.
As I began to get dizzy and not able to focus on things happening around me, Jen's face was easy to spot in the crowd. Her smile was my calm in the storm. In order to stop the hemorrhage, my doctor had to do another surgical procedure. Jen stayed and spoke calmly to my husband as I was taken into the operating room. Come to find out, her shift was over hours prior to this. She stayed just to make sure I was okay. Even after my 24-hour stay in the ICU, Jen called every day to check on me. I will never forget the love and care Jen showed me during the scary experience. Jen was my guardian angel that day, saved my life, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
