I arrived at the Proctor TCC Unit after having a knee replacement. The doctor determined I needed to go to a rehabilitation facility for therapy which was both a surprise and a disappointment to me. When I got to the floor, I was apprehensive not knowing what to expect and feeling quite vulnerable.
Within moments, Jennifer Wiley walked into the room and those feelings evaporated, never to return during my stay. She greeted me warmly and with such a big bright smile. She explained what she needed to do to get me checked in and went about doing just that quickly and efficiently. She was engaging during the process, so I felt we were having a conversation and not that I was simply being "processed."
After the intake was completed, Jennifer made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. She checked in on me periodically just to see how I was adjusting. I came to the center feeling vulnerable and apprehensive and with feelings I am sure are not unique to me. I just hope each patient who comes receives the same care, attention, respect, and engagement I did. It set the tone for my stay here which has been remarkable.
