Words cannot begin to express the gratitude I have for the care my grandfather received from Katie while he was inpatient for 10 days recovering from surgery. He was fortunate to have her care for him on multiple occasions. Katie is truly the definition of a nurse and the standard by which every nurse should be. You can definitely tell she takes pride in the care she gives.
My grandfather suffers from mild dementia and sundowner's syndrome and the compassion and understanding she showed him during his "moments" were by far, short of amazing. Each time Katie checked on him, talked with him, administered his meds or cared for his wound, she would make sure to explain to him the how and why so that he understood what to expect. She took the time to answer all of his questions and ours regarding his care. She genuinely listened to our concerns and helped to ease the anxiety we were feeling. I can only hope that should I ever have to spend time in a hospital that I have a "Katie" for a nurse to care for me.
