Lance graduated as a registered nurse in 1978 and gained his FNP in 1999. For the last 20 years, he has served at the rural health clinics of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. The purpose of this clinic is to increase access to healthcare in rural areas. The population served by the clinic consists of underserved patients, often un- or underinsured. Over my many years as an ER nurse, I have met many patients that state that “Mr. Waldmeier” is their primary provider. Patients often tell me how much he has done for them and how much they love him and are thankful he is there when they need him.

One story, I got from Lance while inquiring about the population he serves, particularly areas they come from, he told me about a patient he followed from Alexandria with Hepatitis C. He states he took the patient because the patient could not find anyone else to care for him. This shows dedication to caring for patients that others will not.
