Just simple things like offering to hold my hand or offering a hug felt like such huge gestures in my emotional time of need.
I was admitted to the hospital at 38 weeks pregnant because of preeclampsia. This was extremely unfortunate news to me because I had planned on having an unmedicated water birth, which was now out of the question. The nurses at Saint Elizabeth were extremely understanding about my situation, and took such great care of me, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Every step of the way they showed concern for me and my situation, as well as took the time to grieve the change in delivery that I would need to have in order for things to be safest for my baby and myself. Just simple things like offering to hold my hand or offering a hug felt like such huge gestures in my emotional time of need. My birth story is a positive one because of this team.
