Melissa's care, compassion, and hard work were noted by a team member of the LifePoint team. LifePoint is the organ procurement company for our region of South Carolina. This team member arrived on CCA/B on a Friday evening about change of shift. She relays that Melissa, who was assigned to the donor patient that night, was going to be very busy as she initiated all of the orders to prepare the patient for donation. Several time-consuming procedures like a heart catheterization and bronchoscopy needed to be done as well as lab work. This team member calls Melissa a "Rock Star". "We accomplished about 24 hours of work in that 12-hour shift and there was never anything but cooperation and compassion for our patient and the family.". She goes on to say that she could not express how valuable that efficiency is to our process. In the end, this meant that people were getting life-saving transplants sooner. As you know, every second counts to the person on the waiting list. Thank you, Melissa for being that patient's advocate and the advocate for the patients who you would never meet.

Melissa is an excellent clinician providing quality care always. She is willing to help other areas within the hospital serving as a leader and mentor to others. She assumes ownership in the Critical Care area and is invested in tracking quality measures for the unit. We are very fortunate to have someone like Melissa as a part of our team.
