Having been a nurse for twenty years, Monique Burnett continuously strives towards fulfilling patient goals by engaging team members to utilize the concept of team work, excellence and compassion to deliver care. While the Vascular Center of Excellence and the Vascular Care Unit (VCU) have undergone several changes within the past few months, Monique has shown great initiative to engage and to lead the team in embracing the changes.
Monique is passionate about VCU becoming a world class unit where patients feel well cared for by clinically competent, compassionate, kind and caring individuals. Her supportive approach to team members and her commitment to patient care demonstrate how she incorporates the whole person care model in her daily practice.
Recently in our quest to transform and create a culture of recognition, Monique has taken the initiative to create meaningful ways to recognize team members in the simplest form. For example, a can of mountain “DEW” can be given as a Thank you for all you “DO”. A roll of “MENTOS” can be given because you “MENT SO” much to our team today. These small initiatives demonstrate how she captures team members’ heart and while creating exemplary ways to serve them.
As our unit embraces the concept of Leader and Hourly Rounding to provide the patient with a positive experience, Monique is able to challenge team members to strive for excellence, to pursue excellence and to expect excellent results.
Monique’s clinical expertise combined with her enthusiasm, passion and commitment have enhanced our unit’s initiatives towards improving patient care. Her engagement has enhanced team work while fostering an atmosphere of growth, team work and excellence. Monique is truly an asset to the nursing profession, to Florida Hospital and to the Vascular Center of Excellence.
Please honor Monique Burnett with the DAISY Award.
