Under her leadership, Singing River Pascagoula’s SNF became the first five star CMS rated facility on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Rachael’s a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly before and during COVID in safeguarding her residents and staff, frequently jumping in to work as staff when shortages would occur. She had a department that was locked down more extensively and longer than any other area, provided daily updates and communication to families, and serving as both a one man guest ambassador and body guard to keep that area as safe as possible. She created innovative ways to provide care for a mixed population of individuals needing rehabilitation when the first COVID positive patients were identified in SNF so that every individual still received high quality care when many other facilities would not accept COVID + patients. She’s a servant leader with the passion of all passions for the most vulnerable among us. For that reason, as well as thousands of others, Rachael Ward is a true DAISY Nurse.
