Riley's care, punctuality, and attentiveness are what helped make the difference in our patient's care.
I am a doctor on the palliative care service for which we were consulted to help with symptom management on a 41-year-old patient who has been battling cancer and is currently admitted into the hospital for severe nausea/vomiting. Throughout her hospital course, it had been challenging to find the right medications/regimen to help our patient, but ultimately, Riley's care, punctuality, and attentiveness are what helped make the difference in our patient's care.

I want to highlight the fact that our hospital is currently experiencing issues with our electronic medical records, which has made managing patient medication regimens all that more challenging. Although this added another layer of challenges to delivering patient care, Riley has done an excellent job in delivering high-value care in such a difficult period. Throughout my multiple visits to our seventh floor, I saw Riley delivering patient care during a busy service. I had visited our patient twice throughout the day. I found Riley at the bedside comforting our patient and answering her questions - both patient and family commended Riley for her hard work and dedication. Yet, in the times I have stopped by the floor and patient room, I have seen Riley going above and beyond to help her patients during this difficult time. It is not often that I hear patients and their loved ones speaking about their nurse and care the way they did about Riley, and for this reason, I am nominating Riley for the DAISY Award.
