Sandy showed true dedication to her nursing career with an obvious love for her job and the health system while caring for a patient and his family post coronary artery bypass grafting. This surgery was unexpected, so there were many fears and questions about post-op care at home. Sandy was contacted several times throughout the patient's hospital stay to assist with education. She was always patient, calm and reassuring. She went above and beyond by changing her schedule to adjust to the family's needs. She also returned to the patient's room to answer additional questions after her shift on her own time. She provided continuous encouragement and education reinforcement. She is an exemplary nurse.

Sandy became a daily bright spot in our lives during my mother's recovery from open heart surgery. She was nurse extraordinaire in her care, compassion, and treatment of my mother. When a bleed developed, my 88-year-old mother had to undergo a 2nd emergency open heart surgery in 8 days. Sandy became a smiling, reassuring beacon of hope for my family. She constantly asked how she could make our stay during those long days better, and she took the time to listen. Her confidence in my mother's recovery and the kindness shown to our entire family will never be forgotten. She is truly a DAISY Nurse!
