I didn't expect to receive such compassion all starting with a routine phone call from Shari. She called to confirm my appointment for a steroid injection and go over my medications prior to my appointment. She answered all my questions and didn't hurry me along. I was extremely anxious about the procedure and Shari sensed this and gave me her direct line in case I had any further questions. I have never ever in my life had a health care professional who genuinely seemed to care about me as a person. I can't begin to tell you how much this eased my mind and provided me comfort just knowing I could call Shari. She told me if she didn't have the answers for me she would find someone who did. She also told me when I came in she would love to meet me in person and say "hello".
I had requested a specific Dr. for the injection but found out the day of the procedure it wasn't going to happen. I was so upset; I was ready to leave Wesley. Shari recognized my voice and came out to say "hello" like she said she would. I told her I wasn't happy a different Dr. would perform my procedure. She comforted me and shared her experience on a procedure she had with this doctor and informed me he was the best and I would really like him. Shari's empathy for me was unbelievable and I gave her a big hug. Shari is the "Care" in Patient Care at Wesley Hospital.
I had another procedure and Shari was there for me again. She gave me her direct phone line should I have any questions. I was glad to have the number because I did have a medical question I needed answered.
It's never a pleasant experience to be a patient in a hospital no matter what is being done. Shari is an amazing person and an asset to her profession. Wesley Hospital is blessed to have such caring individuals representing their facility and I wanted you to be aware of this. This nurse is amazing and definitely goes above and beyond for her patients at Wesley.
