I am a clinical pharmacist in the CCU and I would like to commend one of our fantastic nurses, Shelby Wallace. She always goes above and beyond for her patients, however last Friday, she had a particularly difficult/extremely sick patient, who she treated with grace. When the patient's wife arrived, Shelby allowed the wife to remain at bedside, given his grim prognosis. Shelby maintained composure throughout her entire shift in caring for this man. She delegated tasks appropriately when her hands were full. She managed to keep an eye on her other patients while constantly going in/out of this patient's room. She never once complained about having to garb to go in/come out (and she did this about every 5-10 minutes). She explained to the wife what was happening and the medications that were given. She was diligent yet efficient, and whenever she had questions about the medications she was given she contacted us (pharmacists). Shelby always has a warm bedside manner but she is knowledgeable and gets things done. She utilizes resources, and is a hard-worker. Although this patient mentioned above passed, she did her very best and did not complain about not getting to eat/sit down etc. She goes above and beyond for her patients. I am very proud of Shelby, and I know Regional One Health is proud of her also!
