My journey began in May when I found a nodule in my throat. I had an ultrasound and was advised to see a surgeon for further evaluation. The next morning I discussed my situation with Dr. P, who is such a blessing, he contacted Dr. K who agreed to see me. Fifteen minutes later I was sitting in his office. Dr. K explained the situation was “concerning” and discussed the need for a biopsy. Dr. K was so compassionate explaining to me that in most instances this is not cancerous. Even with his reassurance, I was worried.

TWO days later, Friday, I was scheduled for a biopsy! The following Monday, he came to MY office to discuss the results....CANCER. Once again Dr. K was so compassionate and reassuring, he said “if you have to get it, this is the one you want.” He sat with me and explained everything related to the surgery and then asked “when do you want to do this?”

One week later, on the day of my surgery, I was anxious but “okay” until I got to pre-op, everything started going through my head at 100 mph, knowing too much is scary. I was crying and knowing my family could not be with me, Tracy Ward, RN stayed with me reading scripture, holding my hand, and calming my fears. Then Dr. K came to my room to discuss the surgery; then he asked me if he could pray. Oh my goodness! There is no single thing that could have given me more peace! Immediately, I felt at peace which stayed with me from that point forward. I was exactly where God needed me to be and He had His hands covering all of us.

The surgery was perfect. Dr. K was a blessing; he called me at home to tell me the pathology report was good! The cancer was isolated with no surrounding tissue involvement! Now I have NO CANCER! NO post-op complications. NO pain...EVER! I was able to return to work in one week! God is so GOOD! I thank Him for Dr. K, Tracy Ward, Dr. P, and the countless others whom God works through every day! And how GREAT is it to be a part of an organization that allows surgeons and nurses to pray for their patients!
