To work with, and collaborate with, Tyanna Walker is a privilege and a pleasure. During her time here at the Community Living Center she is known as one who works the hardest and one who works the smartest. She skillfully provides patient with excellent ADL assistance and appropriately reports concerns or questionable findings to the nurse in charge. Handling acute and chronically ill veterans with tracheostomy tubes, PEG tubes, and wound care to improve outcomes and their quality of life. Sincerely caring for patients as they were her family, I have witnessed her assess a patients face/body/clothing and she will safely shave and even coordinate her patient's clothes to comfort for climate and even matching their outfits, "because they have to look good to feel good", with the most contagious grin! Tyanna is one of our top employees for reliability, on our unit and other units as well, and she consistently expresses an energetic and positively electric attitude that is felt by all. Staff look forward to coming to work if she is scheduled and miss her greatly when she is off. "It just isn't the same without her....it's not the same for us and it's not the same for the patients." She continually builds people up and deals with difficult situations with incredible posture, focusing on the positives. Despite the pressures of our daily challenges, Tyanna stands firm that the situation won't affect her attitude, nor will she let that pressure, or stress, be tangible to the patients she is caring for or the staff she is working with. As a CNA, she shows great leadership and initiative in ensuring that the unit is compliant with hospital policies and TJC standards. Independently ensuring tubing and equipment are not expired and properly dated and that all meds in the cabinets are properly labeled, organized, orderly and not expired. She has a mind-set that few people do and we greatly appreciate that about her. Tyanna impressively communicates messages with employees, management, and patients/families alike, all the while promoting a team centered environment and overall simply doing whatever it takes to get the job done - even performing tasks or jobs that are not her own. Frequently seen assisting any patient, whether she is assigned to them or not, she appropriately enters and silently and successfully completes what another staff was reluctant to do. In times of great need she effectively helps coordinate other staff to maximize positive outcomes and patient care goals. Tyanna's candor enables her to overcomes conflicts to reach a common goal with the patients and can cheerfully "come alongside" a patient to consistently extend a healing hand. She is an example to other healthcare providers, at all levels, practicing with honor, integrity, respect and advocacy. Tyyana is a gem; one-of-a-kind and priceless, and best of all, she humbly contributes to the success of anyone around her, staff and patients alike!
