When Vanessa first started at UTMB she was a PCT and then became a Registered Nurse. She was an awesome PCT and the patients loved her and would often request her. As an RN, she is also awesome, she takes the time to connect with our patients and she never stops. One day when rounding on the patients all 6 of her patients named her by name as going the extra mile and making a difference. One referred to her as the "little ninja" because she was working so hard and never stopped. Vanessa is a team builder, she encourages her team and keeps morale up. We also had a situation where we were really short-staffed and Vanessa offered to switch her entire schedule to help with staffing. Another example of what a wonderful team player she is was when we were very short-staffed and only 1 tech with several total care patients. Vanessa went ahead and did all her vitals and bed baths for the PCT to lighten their load. She leads by example and is truly a DAISY Nurse.
