Let me tell you about a new nurse on 5 West. Her name is Zora Williams. She is the night nurse my sister was blessed to have. This nurse exemplifies every characteristic you want in a nurse at Grandview. She should be the poster child for patient experience. She is kind and compassionate but more than that, she is present in the moment with the patient. She made my sister feel like she was the only patient she was taking care of. She prayed with her several times, offered encouragement, listened intently, and offered comfort when we cried with news that no one wants. She stands for her patients. She is in this profession for all the right reasons. Her philosophy is to leave any issues at the door and to always put herself in the place of her patients. Every nurse in this hospital should take a page from her book. She came back after bedside report to pray with us before she left for the morning. We were blessed to have this angel as our nurse.
