Abby would excel clinically with his care and show compassion and empathy in our difficult situation. She was always our ray of sunshine.
My husband was admitted to AU Medical with a heart condition, but was also diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. During his 12-day admission, Abby was his primary nurse on 5 of those days. Each of those 5 days, my anxiety level was minimal knowing Abby would excel clinically with his care and show compassion and empathy in our difficult situation. She was always our ray of sunshine. She had her own special bath soap which she supplied for her patients. My husband was in the hospital on his birthday, but Abby made it special with a gift bag, a birthday poster signed by several personnel, and a group of personnel singing happy birthday - which sadly will be his last birthday. She even showed compassion to me by expressing how I needed to take care of myself. I’m a retired nurse, but Abby is a nurse’s nurse! I was amazed at her clinical expertise at her age and the compassion she expressed for her patients and coworkers. She was even precepting a graduate nurse during this time with ease. Thanks so much, Abby, for being that bright star God placed in our lives during this devastating time.
