Alma is pregnant, but it seems as though we had to remind her of that fact. She never delayed in caring for my mother's needs. She responded to all requests for assistance rapidly and with an excellent demeanor. My mother was extremely impressed with her attention to detail and her ability to assess and care for my mom's needs. A rapid response was called on my mom. No one moved. The head nurse and Alma ran around and gathered equipment, meds, the chart, supplies - a code was called, then others arrived - Alma worked beyond her shift to make sure my mom was okay. She took report from the head nurse, spoke with the on-call MDs, remained well after her shift to transition my mom over to the night shift nurse (who didn't take report from Alma for quite some time after her shift should have ended). Alma's family waited for her until she made sure my mom was breathing. She was extremely selfless. She demonstrates your corporate core values to the 100th degree. She didn't let fatigue, personal discomfort, decreased peer support at shift change keep her from her patient care duties. She was thorough, professional and compassionate. She is an asset! It is easy to fulfill the basic tasks of a job. It's going beyond the call of duty and how wonderful and safe she made us feel that made all the difference to us.
