There should be a box that says, "all of the above" because that would be the one that best describes Amanda. She is the most compassionate nurse I have met and is always putting her patients first. Being in the hospital can be stressful for anyone, but she finds a way to make sure the patients are comfortable when she is caring for them. If a patient has a need, Amanda is the first one there helping them and advocating for them. If a family member is upset about their loved one, Amanda is right there assuring them that they are in excellent care at our hospital. If a co-worker needs assistance, Amanda is there offering a hand. She is dedicated to her patients and every second of her work is focused on delivering the best care possible. She goes beyond her duties to ensure patients have a positive experience while at Upper Valley.
I have had multiple patients tell me how great of a nurse she is. I even had a patient ask me if her discharge could be delayed until next shift when Amanda was there because she wanted to tell her goodbye and thank her for everything she had done for her admission. Mental health nursing can be difficult at times but even in tough situations, she finds a way to de-escalate the situation and keep the patients safe. She has developed skills and a way with patients that would make anyone think she has been a nurse far longer than she has. She is a team player and a nurse that I have always been able to count on whenever I have needed help with anything. If any nurse ever deserved an award, it is her. She is an exceptional nurse and I know that all her patients would agree. Some of them have even written it on their patient satisfaction surveys.
