My husband was placed under Amanda Mayo's care after being admitted through the emergency department. We had received a grim diagnosis and were both very upset, as you can well imagine, on arrival to 4th center. Amanda's calm and reassuring demeanor helped us both to settle down and get some perspective on our situation. Amanda took extra time and patience to get my husband settled and went out of her way to meet our every need from water and crackers to pain medications and doctor-ordered care. She took the time to explain everything we didn't understand but most of all she showed caring and compassion that we both needed even more than our physical needs. Amanda is more than a wonderful nurse, she is a gem with a gold heart, has knowledge and wisdom you don't get through books, and she has the patience of Job that you seldom see in an individual today. She always arrived with a smile on her face and warmth in her heart regardless of the heavy work load she must have been carrying. We never had to request anything more than one time. We knew Amanda was on our side. Most importantly to us, we knew that even if the news wasn't what we wanted to hear, Amanda was always honest and truthful and told it like it was. We knew she could feel our pain along with us and treated us with compassion and dignity and with much respect. Banner Baywood is very fortunate to have Amanda Mayo on their team. Even though we have moved on to another facility for continued care, hardly a day goes by that we don't think of this wonderful nurse.
