Amanda has the ability to connect with her patients in a very personal and profound way. She was nominated for this award by numerous patients and a family. One family was very grateful for the care she provided to their dying loved one. They stated, "she was trying so hard to make her (the patient) comfortable during her last hours. Our family will never forget the love that she displayed".

Another patient commented on her ability to "change their whole perspective on their illness". Due to her perseverance, compassion, and kindness they were able to accept and deal with their cancer diagnosis for the first time. They stated, "Miss Padilla, I believe, saved my life quite literally. I was content with laying here and dying, so to speak, she literally killed me with kindness and changed my whole perception. I was brash and mean to every nurse, but Amanda would not succumb to my behavior pattern, and as a result changed my whole demeanor. Amanda is such an amazing nurse".

Another family member stated "Hats off to Ms. Padilla, she was awesome. . . . Above and beyond".
