Ana Laura's compassion for us, her patients, is remarkable. She was on duty the day we got the diagnosis. It was harsh. Do nothing and live 1-4 weeks or open up your skull, remove as much of the tumor as possible, undergo radiation and chemo, and maybe live a year or more. As we were leaving the unit, Ana Laura made a special effort to tell me how much she had enjoyed our family and how we had worked together to make our decision.
The next day was her day off, but Ana Laura stopped by after the surgery to talk with me, give me a hug, and wish us the best. She even had a handwritten get well note for my husband. As we talked, she said, "I just want my patients to get well".
All the staff was great, but Ana Laura was especially great!
