Andrew McDevitt, RN, was on his way home from Charleston when on Route 16, they came up on an accident that looked like it had just happened. He could see a car pulled over and a bicycle on the road. There were a few people standing around but he could also see someone face down in the ditch.
He went to the man to see if he could be of any assistance. After rolling the man over, he took his last breath. Andrew immediately started CPR & continued until the EMS staff arrived. Even though this man's physical injuries were more than he could sustain, Andrew's responsiveness gave him the best chance of survival.
Andrew continuously goes above and beyond for our patients during his shift at SBLHS but this is truly an example of following the values and going above and beyond to help this individual.
