I witnessed firsthand how amazing Anitra is. She is the type of nurse who comes in on her days off to provide emotional and physical support to families during their toughest days. Just a few days ago, she came in on her day off dressed in regular street clothes to support a mother-saying goodbye to her 33-year-old child. I watched in awe as she held this mother’s hand, gave her a shoulder to lean on, provided her with warm hugs, and spoke words of encouragement to get her and the family through their darkest days.

Anitra is also the most compassionate, uplifting, and overall joy to be around. She is a person with immense integrity and love in her heart for those she serves in her career. She gives 110% all the time and never skips a beat. I have never met a person with the ability that she has to lift people out of a dark place just by a conversation or a hug and smile. When I lost my father, it was Anitra’s warm hugs and emotional support that I craved at times because I honestly knew in my heart she truly felt the pain I was experiencing. As a previous DAISY Honoree, Anitra is the true definition of a DAISY Recipient.
