Anna Giles, RN, has such an amazing, caring, and compassionate spirit with all her patients. One example I remember was during the holidays. We had a retired RN with Stage IV breast cancer with no family. We gave her a Christmas tree and decorated her room. Anna went beyond the caring and compassion by bringing her children to visit in their Christmas PJs with small gifts. This selfless gesture was so uplifting for this sweet patient. This is just one of the wonderful stories.
She continues to put smiles on her patients' faces daily while also making herself available to her fellow nurses for any of their needs or concerns. Anna is truly an amazing person and an even better oncology nurse. She gives of herself daily for her coworkers, patients, and their family members. She is compassionate, caring and never meets a stranger.
In the years I have worked with Anna, I have seen countless acts of her selflessness. She is always willing to help others, whether it be helping someone with directions to bathing a patient and speaking ever so kindly to them. She always has a smile and such a happy bubbly personality. She looks at the good in things and helps those around her to see them as well.
Her patients love her and speak wonderful things about her. Anna truly loves her job and caring for our oncology patients, you can see it in everything she does. Whatever it takes to help make the patients and their families comfortable. She provides them with a safe place to grieve, heal, and let go with dignity.
Every patient is "her" patient on the floor, even if it is not a part of her assignment. She is truly here to make a difference. Anna is very deserving of this DAISY Award and so much more.
