Annie’s care and compassion have made a powerful difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Annie has been the rock of the PCNU for years. She is caring and compassionate with a heart of gold.
Annie is a consistent beacon of leadership, care, and commitment to the patients and staff. She is an unwavering advocate for the patients' best interests. She makes a point to know everyone and is intentional in making herself available to the patients and their families. I’ve seen her countless times buy food for patients just to brighten their days. She mentors new nurses and fights for nurses' rights. She has devoted her life’s work to the care of others. Annie’s simply the best.
Annie has been an integral part of the KKI team for over 30 years. She is immediately recognizable for her bright and outgoing personality and friendly greeting. She welcomes each family and patient, making a sincere effort to offer support and comfort to them as they settle. Annie advocates, asks questions, and looks for creative solutions to difficult situations. She is a mentor to staff, challenging nurses to always see things as the patient might see them, and when patients and families return for subsequent admissions, they always remember her.
She has touched the lives of so many and has left an indelible mark on KKI. We are all better for having worked with Annie. Annie has had an amazing career as a registered nurse at Kennedy Krieger. I can think of no other who exemplifies a dedicated nurse. She is one of the most caring, dedicated, and compassionate nurses that I know. If I had to select one word that describes her I would say ‘advocate’. She arrives to work every day with a plan to support the needs of our patients and families. She is frequently seen wearing a clown hat, buying treats for the younger patients, and making jokes with the teenagers. It is not unusual for the parents to seek her out for a shoulder to cry on, someone to vent their frustrations to, or just have an adult conversation in the evening after the patients are asleep. Over the years she has purchased dinner for parents and patients who missed their dinner tray, bought clothes for patients who did not have anything, and walked to Hopkins multiple times to obtain necessary patient supplies.
Annie’s care and compassion have made a powerful difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Annie has been the rock of the PCNU for years. She is caring and compassionate with a heart of gold. No nurse is a stronger advocate for the patients on the unit. She is always on the lookout for improvements to be made and for patient safety risks. There countless occurrences throughout her career when she has been the model of nursing care. I am grateful I have had the opportunity to work with Annie.
