Ashlee volunteered to drive across town to get the medications.
Ashlee came to my pod to help coordinate a care conference on a very difficult OB psych patient. She helped all the departments come up with a plan for the patient. That plan quickly changed and was very fluid throughout the day. As the plans changed Ashlee continued to keep all the doctors, nurses, risk management, and leadership up to date. This allowed me, the bedside nurse, to focus on therapeutic patient care for this patient as well as my other patients.
In the afternoon we learned of some needed medications for the patient. These medications were only available from a clinic across town. Ashlee volunteered to drive across town to get the medications. She did that as well as take them to the pharmacy to be verified. I left my shift knowing we had the best plan possible for this patient and that was in direct response to all of Ashlee’s help.
