Ashley Roper, an LPN from the 3rd floor medical surgical unit at GWV, was nominated by a patient who was extremely grateful for the top-notch care she received while hospitalized. The patient, a former nurse herself, was impressed by Ashley because she said within 15 minutes of meeting Ashley, she already felt less afraid and most importantly, heard. “I will never forget her kind beautiful eyes gazing upon me with such kindness and sympathy as I told her my story. She instantly elevated my experience.” The patient also appreciated Ashley’s ability to think outside the box and consider all factors in the overall big picture in order to formulate a plan that worked best for the patient.

Ashley has been a nurse at Geisinger Wyoming Valley since January 2023. She chose Geisinger because of the welcoming staff and very diverse community she gets to work with. “At Geisinger, you get to work with many great employees who make being a nurse a whole lot easier. I personally love working on MS3 because of my amazing colleagues who I get to work with every day and who strive to be the best nurses and treat all of our patients with respect.”

Ashley also says she works hard every shift to be an incredible nurse because she feels her job has given her so many professional opportunities. Her favorite part of being a nurse is building a bond with her patients and making a difference in their lives by making sure they are comfortable.
