Mom (84) was transferred down from the 5th floor. Mom was alert and talking, Ashley talked to her, which meant a lot. You could see the respect Ashley has for her patients. She did not treat my mom like she did not know what was going on.
My mom knew her time was drawing near even if we did not want to admit it. My brother is an EMT and I have worked in hospitals and home care. We knew she had stopped eating 2 days before and she had no urine output for over 24 hours.
They went to put in an arterial line, her breathing became labored and they had to put a tube down. Her blood pressure was low and they gave her medication to keep it up.
Ashley explained to us that Mom had no pain and that she was unconscious. Ashley checked Mom constantly and asked us if we needed anything. I asked her questions about the blood pressure meds if it was stopped what would happen. She explained all the medical questions we had honestly.
My brother and I made the decision to stop the BP meds, no blood transfusions or dialysis. It was a hard decision, but Ashley was there to explain things and what would happen.
My mom left this earth peacefully with us by her side. Ashley came in removed tubes, IVs, so we could be close to Mom without the tubes.
This was very hard for me to lose my mom. Ashley made it a little more bearable.
Thank you, Ashley
