Due to an amniotic band that I was diagnosed with during my pregnancy, I was referred to stay in the hospital. Upon arrival my husband and I met our nurse Ashtyn on the 10th floor at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. She was very comforting to us and assured us that no matter what we needed we were in the right place. I wound up staying in the hospital for a week before being released after further ultrasound data showed the band was less of a risk to the baby.

During that week the nurse that stood out above the rest was Ashtyn, you see my husband and I have a 4-year-old daughter who wants to be a doctor or a nurse. Ashtyn made sure to see her dreams through. Our daughter got to pretend to check on mom multiple days in a row, she was given a handmade badge to pretend to let her in the doors at the hospital, and was also given multiple other fun treats and experiences that made my stressful stay in the hospital much more enjoyable for my whole family.

Fast forward to when my husband and I show up for our scheduled C-section. I tend to deal with quite a bit of hesitation and nerves before surgery. We got our check in information and wouldn't you know the nurse to take care of me and see me through the procedure was Ashtyn! She picked up a 7am shift on her day off after working the previous night until 11pm just to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of through my surgery. It was an incredible sigh of relief for me and an absolutely incredible gesture by Ashtyn! It seems very hard to come by good souls like her but after our struggle leading up to and during this pregnancy, we absolutely could not have asked for someone better to help bring our son into this world! Ashtyn is a true DAISY Nurse.
