Beata welcomed us in CDIU for the pre-cath clinic and she remembered my son (the patient) when she saw him after at least a couple years. She was clear and thorough when securing all the tests needed and the details for the next day. On the day of the catheterization and MRI, she made sure everything went smoothly ahead of the procedure. The procedure went 4 hours longer than expected which made it a very long and difficult day for us. Beata did her best to make sure that once my son was back in PACU with her, that he had the best care despite how their shifts would be ending before he was done requiring their close watch.
She was open with us and involved us, his parents and brother, in his recovery while offering us space nearby until he moved. Beata was very loving with him, adjusting to his ever-changing and challenging requirements while coming out of sedation with his bleeding risks. When necessary, Beata consulted with the anesthesiologist in our presence to pursue special care for the situation as developments unfolded. With their department closing and their shift ending, they secured a drop-down bed with the nurses on 4D and transitioned him there before going home after their long day.
In our opinion, she went above and beyond, and we want to make sure she is recognized for that. I have a feeling that it's not the first time and it won't be the last! And to top it off, Beata came to my son's room on 4D on Monday morning before her shift to check on him because she said that she was thinking about him all weekend, hoping that he was making a full recovery.
She is knowledgeable, capable, real, sweet, funny and warm. Beata made it easier to get our family through the tough and unexpected situation in which we found ourselves. My son's stay was filled with other great doctors and nurses but she stood out once again and we're thankful.
