Bethany was coming in to work when another employee (a dental tech) called her over. She found an employee lying on the pavement in a pool of blood. The man was having a seizure and had fallen and hit his head on a cement parking block. Bethany quickly assessed the man, took her smock off and placed it under his head wound that was bleeding profusely. She summoned a bystander who was a security officer to call 911. The man continued to seize. Bethany directed two other bystanders (who were nutritional services employees) to assist her in preventing the man from causing further head trauma by asking them to allow her to use their smocks to cushion the patient's head.

Paramedics arrived and she gave them report. The paramedics were so impressed with her that they wrote her a "Superstar" after taking the patient to the ETC. Bethany then went to work. She called the ETC to "flesh out" the report and answer any questions they had. Bethany also took the time to write a "Superstar" for Amber, the dental tech, who had originally found the man down and called Bethany over to help.

Bethany deserves the DAISY Award. She put a stranger in need ahead of her own concerns when a situation called for it.
