I came into the ER with a severe UTI on Friday and was admitted later that day. There were no rooms, so I was kept in the observation unit. My first encounter with Betsy was a knock on the door with her head poking in sideways, eyes wide and smiling. During my following two days, she showed so much compassion and genuine joy as she did her job professionally and with added care. She sensed my quirky humor and quickly matched it with her own. In my short stay, I grew to love Betsy like a sister. She made sure to be the one who wheelchaired me to the car on discharge. There were nearly tears on both sides. She touched my heart and soul in such a genuine fashion during that brief stay. I now sit and can't imagine how much more she has cared for in this fashion. She nurses, body and soul.
