A lot of people would say, "That is not my job," and refer them to a case manager or an attorney, but not Blair.
I have worked alongside Blair for years. First as a CNA and HUC, and now as an RN. She has always been amazing at all 3 roles. I have worked with her in many areas as we worked on the resource team together before she joined the team at MICU. For 3 shifts this week, I have watched Blair provide exceptional care to her patients. She stands out. The past couple of years have been very difficult to be a nurse and she has never faltered in her compassion, commitment, and loyalty to her patients. Her time and attention to detail are immaculate. She always has a questioning attitude and if she has a concern about her patient she will always reach out to the charge nurse or the doctor involved in the patient's care.
I watch her communicate with patients and their families and she always shows them nothing but respect and kindness, even if the same is not shown to her. Recently, we had a patient whose wife needed help figuring out how she could get financial POA. A lot of people would say, "That is not my job," and refer them to a case manager or an attorney, but not Blair. She took time out of her busy day to reach out about using an official Centra letterhead and having a doctor sign the paper. Today, her patient told Blair she was feeling down and she asked a chaplain to come in and pray with the patient to lift her spirits. She is always such a wonderful advocate for her patients. She never lets anyone fall through the cracks and will fight for her patients and coworkers.
She has always been so willing to help me when needed. Her teamwork is unmatched. I have so much admiration for her and want her to know that the nursing profession is better because she is one of us! She is such an asset to Centra and I hope we never lose her! Without question, every patient that has ever been under her care has received the absolute best care she could possibly give!
