Bob never once hesitated to place himself in danger to save this young lady’s life.
In February a very bad car accident occurred in front of Bob May’s home at 12:30 am. The car quickly caught fire and within minutes the car was engulfed in flames. Bob was not “on the clock”, but quickly sprang into action (as he always does). Without any hesitation, he reported to the scene outside and attempted to get this young lady out of her car. She was pinned by the airbags and was in shock. He quickly used his talents and allowed his quick critical thinking skills to come to play. After quickly assessing the car and entry points, he was able to gain access to the car. He started to quickly “shovel” the snow that was barricading the car door with his bare ungloved hands. He was able to then open the car up. He reached inside to attempt to find this young lady, he could only see her leg at the time. Knowing he had to think quickly, he attempted to remove her. He found her arm and pulled her from the car to safety. During all this, he calmly yelled to his brother to call 911. Bob never once hesitated to place himself in danger to save this young lady’s life. He placed this young lady’s life (a complete stranger) before his own life and safety. He is an absolute angel! If Bob was not there that night, I am almost certain that this young lady would have lost her life and or suffered severe burns to her body along with fighting for her life. Bob does not like to be recognized for the things that he often does for others. However, this event is far too heroic to let pass. Nurses are angels, and we have special gifts placed in our hearts to serve others. Each of us possesses unique gifts and skills that help us to serve those in need. Bob is skillful, quick, calm, and the best critical thinker I know. Most of all he is extremely humble. I feel that Bob has gone above and beyond to provide extraordinary service as a nurse and just simply as a human being!
