Brandi Sanders, LPN, was honored with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses for the 1st Quarter of 2010 at O.R. Nurses, Inc. Brandi was chosen as a DAISY Award Honoree because her "clinical skill and compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that her patients, their families, and her coworkers recognize as an outstanding role model”.
Brandi was recently assigned to a case involving a young ventilator-dependant child with multiple congenital anomalies. This medically fragile child required, and in fact did receive, the highest quality of nursing care from her team, but especially from Brandi. The case dynamics were complicated as the child was in a Foster Care situation, which ultimately proved to be unsafe. Brandi’s commitment to this child’s wellbeing, her attention to detail and proper protocol, and her meticulous documentation led to the child’s removal from a very dangerous situation.

At the time of the patient’s removal, Brandi accompanied the child to a hospital safe haven and dealt with the ensuing questions from physicians, hospital staff, and state officials with a professionalism that is rarely required from an individual at the patient care level.

Brandi was nominated by the Director of Patient Care at the Home Health facility where she staffed, who said she “could not think of anyone more deserving of recognition for her acts of professionalism and true caring”.
