Brandi stayed with us through the worst night, answering questions, checking and clearing, even asked if we wanted her to leave the door cracked open to listen for Dad's breathing, so we could finally get a couple hours of sleep. This was so much appreciated because we had no idea we had less than 12 hours to be with him and needed the strength and rest to face that next day. She tried tirelessly to get Dad's wedding ring off his swollen finger. I was a little hesitant because it seemed it was hurting (it was not) and I just hated the finality of watching that take place. She was so gentle and it did not budge. She came back at the end of her shift and wanted to give it one more try. I stood to hold Dad's right hand as she worked on the left hand and ring. It finally started to move and I could see that she was going to be successful in getting it off. I stopped her as the ring came over the knuckle and asked, "Can you let my mom take it the rest of the way off? She put it on 57 years ago and I just feel like she should be the one to take it off". We all stood and hugged and cried together with that sweet nurse. I will never forget that precious moment. So thankful for her persistent, quiet spirit and loving caring touch.
