Brandon is described in his nomination letter as "always attentive, caring and kind," who "gives his all to his patients."
Brandonexplains that he works in an environment that provides care to patients who are more often than not at their breaking points. "We often deal with patients who are battling addiction and patients who are in acute crises and need help," Brandonsays.
While Brandonspends his day monitoring and talking with patients, he spends most of his time listening. A patient adds, "You can tell he isn't just going through the motions. He is 100 percent there for you."
Before becoming a nurse, Brandonwas a certified nursing assistant in the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit, inspiring him to continue in this field. "I saw all the good that was being done here, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it." When asked what the most rewarding part of his job was, Brandonresponded with, "You see the difference in the people you help every day. When they come in, they're at their worst. But just by listening and being supportive, they transform and that makes it all worth it."
Brandonreceived his award surrounded by his fellow nurses and colleagues. In his nomination letter, a patient says, "He is by far the best nurse I've ever had, and he definitely deserves to be recognized for his hard work and dedication in providing great quality care."
