The most impactful moment for us was when she took the time to sit down with us to map out a plan.
We came to Orlando from Cleveland to visit family, and then take two cruises to get away for a bit. On the second day in Orlando, I began having severe abdominal pain. Long story short, I was admitted to the hospital while tests were being run to find out the problem. Overall, ER visits and hospital stays are very foreign to my husband and me. We are relatively healthy people, so ending up in this hospital, hundreds of miles from home and our regular, familiar medical facilities was very scary and intimidating. It was then that we met Charge Nurse Brandy. We presented her with so many questions and concerns, and she didn't even bat an eye. The most impactful moment for us was when she took the time to sit down with us to map out a plan. She rolled the bedside table over and sat down, getting on my level to meet me eye to eye in the bed, instead of standing over me. Brandy took the time to explain my diagnosis, what we needed to do to get better, what that timeline looked like, and other possibilities. She validated my feelings of concern and feeling scared and assured me that I was in good hands. Whenever she passed by or had a minute, she was in checking on me and making sure I got the care she said I would get. I truly felt like she cared about me and was so touched by how she took the time to sit down and talk through what the treatment process was going to look like for me.
