Brant is one of our awesome endocrinology nurses. Recently he was sharing a story with me about how he had traveled to Lampasas High School after work to help a family and the school system best care for their child. The family, a nursing supervisor for Lampasas ISD, three school nurses, the coach, and Brant all attended this meeting to learn how to best care for this child and make his life as normal as possible. His dedication to our patients is exemplified in this meeting. Taking personal time to educate and share with the staff at Lampasas High School on the delicate care of one of our patients is deserving of recognition. This in-depth information and one-on-one education offers a tremendous opportunity for this family. It also allows the school system the ability to access expert information and education to better understand Type 1 Diabetes and this child's development.
Brant also does extra education in his free time for a well-known camp as well as shares education and resources for the entire family in a seminar-type format. Brant loves what he does and you can tell when he becomes excited discussing education. He is able and willing to provide for these patients and families in our area. Brant goes above and beyond every day in the role of educating by being a resource to the community in which our children depend so much upon. I have witnessed his many interactions with nursing students during his daily work. Brant works just as hard to educate and communicate with them in order for them to help the patients in the same caliber.
