I would like to nominate Bret Stevens from Mooresville E.R. for the DAISY award. Bret is a great nurse, and a wonderful co-worker. But, one evening I worked with Bret he was much more than a great nurse and co-worker. You might say he was a little girl's guardian angel.

We had a family come in that was in a car explosion. The father was badly burned and went to the trauma room, where the one and only doctor there took care of him. Bret stepped in and carried the 2 year old little girl in his hands like a father would. He knew the doctor was busy, so he just took control; he called for Riley Life Line immediately, ordered a CT, and carried her over to CT, never putting her down or leaving her side. He comforted her like a father would; he was so loving, patient, gentle, and kind with her, talking to her in a very calming way. It was truly very touching to see someone care about their patient so much, and give such loving care. I think Bret truly saved her life. Right after the CT was done the helicopter arrived and she was transferred to Riley. Upon arrival to Riley she became unresponsive, so we got her there just in the nick of time, and she was released 3 days later. Great job, Bret!!
